On June 1, I returned from Quilt National at The Dairy Barn in Athens Ohio. www.dairybarn.org After submitting for several years, my piece, Archeology Series Fragment #14 was juried in!  Any of you who have gone to the big shows know how delightful this can be! My mind is crowded with new acquaintances, new ideas, an overdose of visual input, the joy of seeing my family who is from Columbus, Ohio, and the wonderful time sharing it with them and friends. Achieving this goal has been a dream of mine for years.

Dog portraits in fabric and stitch at The Art Bazaar, 2011
On June 12, I  broke down my show of custom fabric dog portraits at The Art Bazaar in New York city at 7th Ave and 20th St. It was the third time I have exhibited there. After exhibiting I always need to reassess and redirect. I have showed both my Archeology Series there and my dog portraits. Two completely different markets. I make an 8 x 10” and a 4 x 6”.

Welcome to Kevan's blog!

Just to get my feet wet and understand the system I will leave a quick note. First thanks to all who have helped me get to this point in my art life and specifically those who have  helped me to start and sustain my website. The bread crumbs you left along the way are most appreciated.
I hope to share not only the developments of my fiber art studio, but my thoughts, as I find my through all this new territory. I want to share with you my favorite tools, techniques, books, and inspiration. I hope to start a tutorial about composition, and I invite your contributions. Here's to first steps!
